Hi! I’m Paul Bieniek, a senior Political Science major from Martinsburg, WV. I’ve been editor-in-chief since May 2015 after serving as a reporter for The Marcolian during my sophomore year. The liberal arts education I’ve received at Marietta, coupled with my involvement in organizations like The Marcolian, has turned me into a more well-rounded, thoughtful, and brave individual than I could have possibly imagined before I arrived on campus. At the risk of sounding cliché, I encourage everyone to take a chance while they’re here-I had never done journalistic writing before the Marc, and before I knew it I was leading the weekly meetings!
Other than writing, I enjoy reading novels and discussing philosophy, following and engaging in politics, running, taking walks, eating savory food, drinking smooth coffee, and hanging out with friends.
Hi, I’m Matt Peters and I am a junior advertising/public relations and broadcasting double major, graphic design minor from Elyria, Ohio. A general love for writing is what drew me to journalism. My time with the Marcolian – coupled with my liberal arts education – has strengthened that passion, allowing me to grow and develop my skills. The people I’ve met and stories I’ve heard as a student journalist have enriched my college experience, and broadened my horizons
My primary academic interests are the arts, digital media, religious and environmental studies. A few of my hobbies include music, photography and videography. I also enjoy working out and spending time outdoors.
My name is McKenzie Fleeman and I will be graduating Marietta College this spring with a major in Communication Studies and minors in Psychology and Leadership. I joined The Marcolian because I enjoy writing. Prior to joining I had no journalism experience, but I feel that I have developed valuable journalistic skills though my time at The Marcolian. In addition to writing, I am passionate about photography and love spending time with family and friends!

- I love to write for the Marcolian because not only is it a great opportunity to improve my writing skills, but it also forces me to step out of my comfort zone and go cover events I typically wouldn’t go to which has enriched my experience here at Marietta.
