As you are feverishly attempting to get all assignments submitted in the last week of class, and with finals week just around the corner, you may be looking for a little extra energy to get you through the day, and a good cup of coffee may be just what you need. For many college students (myself included), coffee is a staple more important than bread. So, where do you go in Marietta to get a good cup of joe?
4) Tim Hortons
Located at 118 Seventh St. in Marietta, Tim Hortons is very close to campus, and the most inexpensive coffee I tried. However, that is where the benefits end for me. As far as fast food coffee goes, it’s better than most. If you like your coffee black, it’s pretty good. If you prefer iced and frozen coffee drinks like I do, I am highly skeptical as to whether there is actually any coffee in them at all.
3) Chlapaty Café
Coffee from the Chlapaty Café, located in the Marietta College library, is without a doubt the most convenient for college students. I know that I have spent an absurd amount on caramel macchiatos this semester. Though better than Tim Hortons, compared to other local coffee houses, I would call the specialty coffee drinks from the café thoroughly average. But, when it’s midnight and your paper is due in the morning, do you really care what your caffeinated beverage tastes like?
2) Skyline Café
Skyline Café, located at 114 Putnam St. in Marietta, is also walking distance from campus, and was a close second for me. I ordered an iced times square late, and thoroughly enjoyed the coffee as well as the thick chocolate syrup that covered the bottom of the cup, arguably the best part. If you are looking for a good cup of coffee and want to take a walk downtown, I would highly recommend Skyline.
1) Stoked Coffee
Located at 302 Pike St. in Marietta, Stoked Coffee takes the top spot on my list. Their signature drink, the frozen stoked mocha, is the perfect combination of chocolatey-caramely sweetness, espresso, and blended ice. It is one of the sweetest and most delicious beverages I have consumed to date. Stoked Coffee is either a fairly long walk or a short drive from campus, but if you can spare a moment, it’s definitely worth the trip.
