In these first few days of October, fall is in the air and spooky season has officially begun. The city and community of Marietta are all in with the festivities for spooky season, with several houses and businesses having put up elaborate decorations weeks ago. The month of October is filled with activities and events across Marietta and the Mid-Ohio Valley to keep the spooky feeling alive as we prepare for Halloween.
Next week, the festivities will be kicked into action with Friday the 13th, a date infamous for superstition and general spooks. On this Friday the 13th, CrossFit Weld will be celebrating with a Fright Night event.
The Castle on 4th Street will be running ghost tours on October 20th, 21st, and 27th. The tours run from 7:00p.m. to 8:45p.m. each night, with new tours beginning every 15 minutes and each tour lasting around 45 minutes.
In Parkersburg, there will be a family-friendly ‘Monster Mash’ Halloween festival on October 20th. Also in Parkersburg, the 1313 Purgatory Lane Insane Asylum Haunted House on DuPont will be running tours and haunt experiences from the 26th to the 28th.
On the following day, another Monster Mash event will be held in downtown Marietta on October 21st. This monster mash will be run by the Humane Society of the Ohio Valley. The Humane Society will also hold a chili cook-off station in Belpre on the 22nd.
On the 28th in Marietta, the town will be filled with activities, starting with a morning Trick or Treat at the River City Farmer’s Market beginning at 9:00a.m. Also, on the 28th, the Moose Lodge will be hosting the Marietta Moose Halloween, and the American Legion will be hosting an Adult Halloween Costume Party. Lastly on the 28th, the People’s Bank Theatre will be putting on a production of The Rocky Horror Picture Show from 8:00p.m. to 10:00p.m.
These are just some of the many ways to celebrate the spooky season of Halloween in Marietta this October. For anyone who loves to embrace the Halloween spirit, Marietta is the place to be.
