Marietta College’s track and field team has opened its 2019-2020 season by hosting the Marietta First Glimpse meet Saturday (Dec. 7). The Pioneer women placed in third with 80 points, while the men finished in sixth with 34 points.

Head Coach Jason Davis was impressed with the opener, especially the efforts of Kasey Neville out of Belington, West Virginia. The women’s shot-put school record was broken over the weekend by Neville as she threw a distance of 13.39 meters to earn the first-place position. Annie Priest was also able to add to the success of the women’s shot-put performance as she placed in fourth after throwing 11.79 meters. Jensen Greer gave a strong performance in the shot put as she threw a distance of 9.78 meters to grab eighth place.

Well-known Marietta College high jumper, Laura Pullins, threw in her fair share of success by winning the women’s high jump. Her jump of 1.65 meters sealed the deal. Baylee Brown was also able to grab a win in the women’s triple jump when she cleared a distance of 9.37 meters.

Alex Dimon’s efforts led the men when he was able to win the 55-meter hurdles with a tie of 7.68 seconds. Dan McCartney and Jared Gaylord earned third and fourth place in the triple jump when McCartney cleared 10.59 meters and Gaylord cleared 10.02 meters.

The Marietta Open takes place on January 11th, which is when the team will return to action. Get out and support our track-and-field team; they work hard to perfect their craft, and many of the individuals on the team are doing things that have never been done at MC before.
