Bill Rosinki, Marietta College graduate, returned to MC to pass along some advice and information to the future communication graduates. Rosinski is currently a sportscaster working with ESPN radio as the lead college football and basketball commentator. He has also called games for the NFL along with following chunks of the PGA Tour.
Bill graduated from MC with a degree in Radio and Television and is still considered one of the best play-by-play guys in the business. In 2004, he got the opportunity to call his first Super Bowl, which he said was one of his favorite moments in his career.
Jane Rosinski, Bill’s wife, was also on campus who served as the Vice President of Corporate Marketing and is on the Board of Directors for various companies. She supports as his statistician at games, along with the driver of the golf cart when Rosinski is covering a PGA event. She is also a graduate of Marietta College and loves to be involved with the sporting events as well.
Key advice from Mr. Rosinski was to get experience in a professional field; he says nowadays, it is almost impossible to get hired somewhere ideal without some form of professional experience. He also explained how his job is not all fun and games; sometimes, it is important that he does a great amount of research before calling an event.
During his time at MC he called for the baseball team, which he stated was a great time because they were “fun to call and fun to watch” because of how good they were at the time. He also enjoyed calling football. Bill and Jane were thankful for everything they learned at MC, and they were proven to be successful because of it.
