This past Friday the Energy Business Alliance (EBA) held their first annual Welcome Back Bash for students which included free food, games, and plenty of good times.

The venue was a 100-year-old leather factory that used to produce some of the highest quality horse saddles in the state of Ohio.

The party was orchestrated by EBA founders Jon Hinson and Aaron Dillon, who started the club as a way to give petroleum and geology students some experience with the field while at college. However, the group also features members outside of those two areas of study, featuring around 60 members in total.

All attendees of the event were treated to all-you-can-eat pizza and wings as well as free beer, soda, and water. Food and drink weren’t the only things available, there was also a set of corn hole boards as well as a video game tournament. Competitive event winners were granted tickets to be entered into the raffle held at the end of the night.

“I felt the welcome back bash went even better than I had expected,” Jon Hinson said of the event. “We had 50 plus people show up throughout the night and we were lucky enough to get a great venue downtown that was spacious enough to hold everyone comfortably.”

“The place was great for a party and the free food and drinks along with all the games just made it that much better,” Evan Levine, a junior, said of the party. “Although it was a party you could still see and feel the history of the building.”

The Energy Business Alliance plans to host the Welcome Back Bash every year, welcoming all students. Hinson hopes to be able to provide all the amenities that were available this year to all future attendees and to have an even larger turnout in years to come.
